The Bangladesh Observer August, 07, 2007 (P. 7) visit northern website: www.northernfertilizer.org Balanced and organic fertilizer can reduce pressure on Urea From our Correspondent DINAJPUR, August 5:-The using of balanced and organic fertilizer will reduce pressure, at least 50 percent of demand on Urea fertilizer of the country during IRRI-Boro and Aman season and will prevent from importing Urea from other country worth of Tk. 60cr yearly and farmers will get outstanding production of their crops keeping land fertility as natural, according to the report of Scientists of Bangladesh Rice Research Institute. Northern Agro Services Ltd, an agriculture service providing company of Dinajpur has been conducting experiment on land fertility since 1992 and successfully emerged by producing balanced and organic fertilizer which will reduce pressure on urea during pick season and farmers will get more yields from their crop-land keeping their lands fertility. The report, signed by Dr. Abdul Mojid Miah, chief Scientist of Bangladesh Rice Research Institute said that, the balanced and organic fertilizer of Northern Agro Services will reduce pressure on Urea during the pick season of IRRI-Boro and Aman season of the country and alongside the farmers of the country will be benefited in producing their crops and saving their capital. While talking to different farmers of Dinajpur Sadar, Chirirbandar, Biral, Kaharol and Ghoraghat of Dinajpur said that, the using of balanced fertilizer in the district is gaining popularty by years. They have been using the fertilizer of Northern Agro Services Ltd. for last two years and received tremendous product from their cropland during last IRRI-Boro and Aman Season as well saving their capital too. as the farmers were saying. The farmers said from their experience, they used at least 100Kg, urea, in each acre of Boro land in previous year but for the last two years they used only 40 to 50 Kg Balanced fertilizer of Northern Agro and received an outstanding product from their croplands. Tayab Ali, a farmer of Palashbari village under Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur informed that, he needed at least 60 sacks of Urea for 50 acres cropland during Boro season, but last two seasons he failed to get his requirements as they country was undergoing severe shortage of Urea during the pick season. Finding no way out, he used only 35 sacks of balanced fertilizer of Northern Agro in his total cropland and produced 90 to 100 mounds paddy from each acre of his cropland for two consecutive years, he added which was much higher than previous years. Another farmer, Md. Saiful Rahman, Village Amtali of Ghoraghat upazila of Dinajpur said that he used only two sacks balanced fertilizer during last Boro season due to availability. The farmers Mazharul Islam, Abdul Hamid, Amzad Ali and Abdul Jalil of Dinajpur Sadar upazila also expressed their positive views and informed that they will use balanced fertilizer of Northern Agro in coming Aman season as they produced roughly 100 mounds paddy from an acre for last two consecutive years. While contacted with Managing Director of Northern Agro Services Ltd. Md. Fahatul Islam said that, they are producing the balanced and organic fertilizer from cow dung and litters of poultry farms which are positive to improve the land fertility. At present they are marketing three quality brands Balanced. Powered and Organic Fertilizer depending on land fertility of the region. He also informed that at least 30 out of 64 districts are using the balanced and organic fertilizer of Northern Agro Services Ltd. and needs more private entrepreneur to cover rest part of the country to reduce pressure on Urea of which 70 is imported. |
